In 1977, Sidney and Sandy Lansdale were already hard at work building a future. Long before their first semi ever hit the highway, they were running a small cab company, serving their community one ride at a time. It wasn’t glamorous work, but it was honest — and it laid the foundation for everything that would come next.

With determination and a vision they could only imagine growing, they eventually added their first semi truck. That single truck marked the beginning of City Cartage Company’s journey into trucking. What started with local cab routes slowly expanded into hauling freight, learning new roads, and taking bigger chances.

Their son Norman grew up watching his parents build the business from the ground up. When he was old enough, he climbed behind the wheel and drove for the company for years, learning not just the routes but the responsibility that came with carrying the family name. In time, Norman moved into the office, bringing with him an even bigger vision for growth.

After stepping into leadership, one of Norman’s key decisions was hiring Kirby as operations manager. For 20 years, Kirby has been an essential part of the operation — organizing loads, supporting drivers, and helping guide the company through decades of steady expansion.

Nearly 50 years later, what once began as a small cab company has grown into a full-scale trucking operation with more than 40 trucks and over 45 employees. Even more remarkable, some of the drivers have been there since the early days — a testament to the loyalty and family spirit that Sidney and Sandy built from the start.

From cab rides around town to semis traveling the highways, the journey of City Cartage Company is more than a business story. It’s a legacy — built on hard work, family, faith in the future, and a vision that keeps moving forward.
